Covid19 Crisis: Policy on Events
With effect from 0900, 17th March 2020, all PWRR Association events and gatherings will be suspended until further notice in order to reduce the high risk to our older veterans, fellow comrades and families.
[Note: This is a precaution. Some events may be allowed in some circumstances (e.g. a wreath laying, etc.) but any requests are to please go via Assoc Chairman to RHQ PWRR so we can ensure our Regimental duties of Care are properly served and advice given.]
Veterans are a brilliant team of robust, highly trained personnel and most of us have seen a lot worse than a 'virus'. But it is our elderly now most at risk.
Veterans are a brilliant team of robust, highly trained personnel and most of us have seen a lot worse than a 'virus'. But it is our elderly now most at risk.
- If you are in urgent need yourself please contact: your GP, Dial 111 or call your local community first responders.
- Veteran Care: We encourage all our veterans to telephone weekly those veterans known to you who are in need or isolation – several comrades live alone or are carers. This is a great time for us all to live up to our 3Cs: ‘Comradeship, Communication & Care’. Volunteer direct to your Assoc Branch.
- Local Community Support: This is a great chance for us to show society that our veterans are trained for crises. We have many skills to support local communities, local elected leaders and Council efforts to assist the vulnerable. So let’s get our badges and berets on to help reassure locals in any efforts in the coming months. We Tigers are active patriots, not passive.
- Please beware of social media shares and gossip - call it out if you see it - they are a dangerous 'virus' also as they spread fear.
Crisis Update - 26 March: Army v Navy Cancelled
ARU Army v Navy match is now cancelled.
- Giles Walsh at London Branch (who lead on AvN annually as volunteer) is thanked for all he did to get the tickets bought again in his own time.
- We are awaiting info on refunds from ARU.
- All should remember that this effort for the Assoc is kindly run by 3 volunteers who are also faced with the same challenges as us all by COVID-19.
- It is recommended that all members defer their ticket to next year as we would all be buying them again in 6 months time anyway. Ticket cost is low and travel and food & drink costs have been saved by all. Names will be retained of those who have tickets soon, when volunteer time allows.
- Some big challenges lie ahead to process those who choose not to just defer but want a refund; this won't be before June 2020 at the earliest, to avoid doubt. Those who desire a refund who are not in London Branch membership should await details on the FB groups but get ready in advance to supply London Branch with a screenshot or pdf bank statement showing:
- the ticket payment transaction you made and date, (for cross checking and confirmation)
- how many tickets were bought in whose name (if not you then a letter from the person agreeing to your getting the refund).
- the precise bank account, name, sort code and account number for the refund to go to.
- We must sadly all be patient on it. Refund hasnt even been sent by ARU yet! If you have bought a lot of tickets or have Qs then contact London Branch Chairman Kev Hibbert or Giles directly.
Crisis Update - 17 March: Albuhera Day Cancelled
From Maj Paul Senter, Dep Regtl Sec RHQ:
"We have taken the decision now to cancel the Albuhera Service in St Pauls this year before anyone made travel plans or booked accommodation. Our feeling is that the current situation is likely to continue and as the age demographic of our membership is slightly higher than average shall we say, we are not comfortable putting you at risk. There may be an opportunity later in the year but is unlikely at the moment."
Association Chairman Notes:
